According to the Associated Press (20 October 2000), there were 7.1 million Web sites in June of 2000 compared to 4.7 million sites in June of 1999. That is an astonishing 53% increase !! And, believe it or not, that 53% growth is down from the 77% increase the WWW enjoyed from 1998 to 1999.

It would be a huge mistake to assume all 550 billion documents of the World Wide Web contain material which is healthy for the mind and soul. However, even if only 1 out of 550 is worth a look, that leaves 1 billion documents and most of them are filled with interesting answers to the questions of yesterday and today.
The WWW is a mind boggling treasure of information. Having the tools to discover the wonders of this treasure becomes more important each day.
Listed below are a few of the 'digging' tools I have found to be truly helpful and with only minor intrusions of commercialism. If you know of others, please send them my way ... there are only three criteria : 1) ease of use ... 2) appropriate results ... 3) minimal commercialism.
